Consider that God may not be as interested in what you've done so much as why you did it. He knows the heart and the intentions behind our actions.
He searches, examines, knows, softens, changes and judges the hearts of men.
So, when we pray for forgiveness of our actions, let us also pray for a heart change...a sincere, clean heart filled with The Holy Spirit...a change that is only possible through a partnership with Abba Father...creator of all hearts.
"He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works." (Psalm 33:15)
"Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me." (Psalm 51:10)
"But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)
"I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings." (Jeremiah 17:10)
"All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits." (Proverbs 16:2)
