Jesus says to the Father:
“I glorified You on the earth, having accomplished the work which You have given Me to do. Now, Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.”
— John 17:4-5 (NASB)
And it excites me because God says:
“For those whom He foreknew [that means us!], He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; and these whom He predestined [again, that’s us!], He also called; and these whom He called [us], He also justified; and these whom He justified [us], He also glorified.”
— Romans 8:29-30 (NASB)
Why does this excite me?
Those first words spoken, John 17:4-5, were spoken to the Father, by Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Jesus knew that His life would soon pass and He was praying, ready to go to the Father, in confidence that His purpose would be complete.
As Christians, what we are doing now with our lives will give us that same confidence before our Father and, the best part, just like Jesus, we too will be glorified, just as Romans 8:29 says.
Think about it, Christian family, if Jesus prayed those words to the Father, how amazing is it that we, too, are given a purpose that will lead us into the same prayer that Jesus, Himself, spoke to the Father?!
If you meditate on that, and really allow the moment Jesus had with His father to sink in as a moment you, too, can have with the Father, you might see a new depth — a deeper, more tangible relationship between you and your Heavenly Father.
We, too, will be glorified upon fulfilling our purpose!
Thank you, Jesus, for leading the way.
Jesus says to the Father, about us:
“The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one…”
— John 17:22 (NASB)
