There’s been a parade of rulers, nation builders, and kings who have snubbed their nose at the God of the Bible. What they mostly have in common is that message that the world is now under their right rule. From Nero to Stalin, to Mao Tse Tung they have all made it their business to rid the world of those who dared claim that Jesus was Lord.
Where are those boasters now? Not only are they gone but hey are now reviled. School children are not treated to rave reviews of these self-appointed deities in even the most humanistic textbooks.
Have you noticed that Jesus Christ is still used as the standard, even by secular progressives? In recent polls, one of the major criticisms of the church by 16 to 24-year-olds who have abandoned the church is that today’s church is nothing like Jesus. So they are saying to us that being like Jesus is the zenith of human behavior.
Nobody thinks the church should be like Hitler or Napoleon, or Alexander the Great or Mao.
Even the haters accidently acknowledge the superiority of Christ and the wisdom of God.
Reflect on this as you go to the polls today. It ends and begins with God. He is Sovereign. He is on the throne! And every knee will one day bow to the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords and declare that He is
God!
